BURKERT 1640 Type 2000 is a pneumatically operated 2/2-way angle seat valve designed for the controlled flow of liquid and gaseous media. The externally piloted angle seat valve is operated with a single-acting polyamide (PA) piston actuator. High flow rates are attained with the virtually straight flow path. The reliable self-adjusting packing gland provides high sealing integrity. This maintenance-free and robust valve features a stainless steel body, PTFE seat seal, and is optimized for discrete process automation, meeting ATEX and IECEx explosion protection standards.
The Type 2000 angle seat valve consists of a pneumatically actuated piston actuator with an optical position indicator and a 2/2-way valve housing. The control air connection can be rotated steplessly through 360° for flexible installation.

Depending on the version, the valve is closed against the medium flow by spring force (Control Function A) or by control pressure (Control Function B). Model 1640 utilizes Control Function A (CFA), which is normally closed by spring force in the rest position.
Flow below the seat is suitable for liquids, steam, and gases. As the medium pressure is under the pendulum disc, this pressure contributes to the opening of the valve. The valve closes against the medium flow.

Flow above the seat is strictly for steam and gases. Because the medium is above the pendulum disc, the operating pressure assists in closing the valve and sealing the valve seat.

WARNING: Risk of Water Hammer
Risk of damage due to bursting pipes and bursting equipment when the flow is above the seat. In the case of liquid mediums, water hammer can occur, causing pipes and the device to burst. Do not use valves with flow above the seat for liquid mediums.
