Product Features

  • Excellent control accuracy: Exchangeable valve seats enable perfect coordination under the most demanding operating conditions.
  • Robust actuator: Features optional stroke limitation and locking.
  • High-quality materials: Stainless steel valve body with flange connection (DN 50 for Model 20099319).
  • Reliable sealing: The packing gland uses tried-and-tested V-seals and possesses spring compensation, which means that it does not need to be pulled back manually.

Approvals and Conformities

  • Pressure Equipment Directive: Compliant with 2014/68/EU.
  • Explosion Protection (Optional): ATEX (EPS 18 ATEX 2 008 X II 2G Ex h IIC T4...T2 Gb / II 2D Ex h IIIC T135 °C...T300 °C Db) and IECEx (IECEx EPS 18.0007X). Suitable for zone 1/21 and zone 2/22.
  • Drinking Water: Suitable for use in drinking water applications (UBA).
  • Foods and Beverages/Hygiene: FDA, USP, EC Regulation 1935/2004, and China food GB Standards compliant variants available.

Explosion Risk in Ex Areas

For variants with Ex approval, there is a risk of explosion due to electrostatic charging. Take appropriate measures to ensure that no electrostatic charge can build up in the potentially explosive area. Only wipe the device surfaces gently with a damp or antistatic cloth. Ground the actuator and valve body.

Structure and Function

BURKERT 20099319 BURKERT Type 2961 example of 2/2-way globe valve structure

  1. Handwheel with locking (optional)
  2. Position indicator
  3. Relief bore
  4. Wrench flat for open-end wrench
  5. Globe body
  6. Port connection
  7. Flow direction indicator

Position Indicator

BURKERT 20099319 BURKERT Type 2961 position indicator

When turning the handwheel anticlockwise, the reproducible stroke scale becomes visible between the position indicator and the handwheel. The scale on the handwheel determines the rotation position of the handwheel (50 positions). The reproducible stroke scale shows, depending on the bottom edge of the handwheel, the relative position of the valve (valve opening) and acts as a fixation point for determining the rotation position.

Flow Direction

The valve seat is always closed against the medium flow. The flow direction should therefore be set such that the valve reaches the flow beneath the valve seat.

Installation

Risk of injury due to high pressure

Switch off the pressure before working on the device or system. Vent or drain the lines.

Set Stroke Limit

Setting the minimum and maximum stroke limit is possible as an option. An adjusting sleeve is used for this purpose.

BURKERT 20099319 BURKERT Type 2961 set stroke limit

  1. Screw on handwheel
  2. Square
  3. Adjusting sleeve

Lock Handwheel

It is also an option to lock the handwheel to prevent unintentional or unauthorised operation of the valve. Handwheel sizes M and L can be locked in 13 locking positions per revolution.

The locking pin has a bore (Ø 3.8) and can be secured against unauthorised use with a padlock (not included in scope of delivery). Push the locking pin down and rotate by 180°. Insert padlock through the bore in the locking pin and secure.

Servicing and Maintenance

When used in accordance with the operating instructions, the actuator of the manually operated valve is maintenance-free. Perform a visual inspection of the device once per year. If leaks occur, replace the respective wearing part. Muddy and abrasive media require correspondingly shorter inspection intervals.
