Mechanical PumpPMO 14 barg

TLV GP14L PowerTrap Mechanical Pump

TLV GP14L mechanical pump from the PowerTrap series. Discharges liquid from vacuum or low-pressure areas to high-pressure areas. Maximum operating pressure 14 barg.

TLV GP14L PowerTrap Mechanical Pump

TLV GP14L mechanical pump, part of the PowerTrap series, is used to discharge liquid from vacuum-pressure or low-pressure areas to high-pressure areas, or from lower to higher elevations. It operates as a mechanical pump suitable for open and closed systems where there is always a negative pressure differential.

Application

The PowerTrap GP14L is a mechanical pump. Unlike the GT models which feature a built-in steam trap, the GP models require a separate external steam trap when used in open systems. GP models can be used where there is always a negative pressure differential, such as with vacuum equipment.

Types of Systems

  • Closed System: No flash steam discharge, small reservoir, and can be used with vacuum equipment. Only one piece of equipment is possible per system.
  • Open System: Collection of condensate from multiple equipment is possible. Can be used where the trap is lower than the receiver. Requires a separate steam trap for each piece of equipment and a venting pipe to discharge flash steam to the atmosphere.

Specifications

  • Maximum Operating Pressure (PMO): 1.4 MPaG (14 barg) [200 psig] for standard GP14L. Cast Iron in Europe: 1.3 MPaG (13 barg) [185 psig].
  • Motive Medium Pressure Range: 0.03 – 1.4 MPaG (0.3 – 14 barg).
  • Max. Allowable Back Pressure: 0.05 MPa (0.5 bar) less than the motive medium pressure used.

WARNING

Install properly and DO NOT use this product outside the recommended operating pressure, temperature and other specification ranges. Use only under conditions in which no freeze-up will occur.

Configuration

The GP14L features flanged or screwed connections for condensate inlet/outlet and screwed connections for the exhaust outlet, motive medium inlet, and plug holes. Flange standards include JIS 10,16,20K, JPI 150/300, ASME 150/300, and PN10,16,25,40.

Installation

Fluids that can be discharged through the PowerTrap are limited to steam condensate and water.

  • Motive Medium Supply Piping: The pipe diameter should be at least 15 mm. Install a 40-mesh or finer strainer on the motive medium supply pipe.
  • Exhaust Piping: The exhaust pipe diameter should be at least 15 mm and connected to the top of the receiver/reservoir.
  • Inlet and Outlet Piping: Install a 40-mesh or finer strainer on the pumped medium inlet pipe. The CKF5M check valve is designed for use on PowerTrap.

Sizing the Condensate Receiver/Reservoir

The size and vent pipe aperture are determined by the amount of flash steam in the in-flowing condensate and the amount of pumped medium held back while the PowerTrap is discharging. Be sure to select a receiver/reservoir pipe of the correct size.
