TLV VAS Rapid Initial Air Vent for Water Systems

TLV VAS is a cast iron rapid initial air vent with a free float design. It vents large volumes of initial air at start-up and functions as a vacuum breaker. Max 10 barg, 100°C.

TLV VAS Rapid Initial Air Vent for Water Systems

TLV VAS is a float-type mechanical rapid initial air vent designed for water systems. It rapidly vents large volumes of initial air at system start-up. After venting the initial air, the vent can also serve as a vacuum breaker to facilitate drainage by introducing air into the system.

TLV VAS rapid initial air vent

INFO

Once the valve closes after discharging initial air, it will not open again, even if air accumulates inside the product, until the internal pressure drops to near atmospheric pressure. If air is expected to accumulate in the piping during operation, use it together with an automatic air vent.

Features

  • Quick Start-up: A large orifice can vent large volumes of initial air for quick system start-up.
  • Seal Tightness: The combination of a precision-ground float and a valve seat with rubber contact assures seal tightness when the vent is closed.
  • Long Service Life: With only one moving part (the free float), concentrated wear is prevented, providing a long, maintenance-free service life.
  • Vacuum Breaker: Dual function as a rapid initial air vent and a vacuum breaker, which facilitates drainage of the system.

Discharge Capacity

TLV VAS discharge capacity chart

  1. Differential pressure is the difference between the inlet and outlet pressure of the air vent.
  2. Capacities are equivalent capacities of air at 20 °C under atmospheric pressure.

Proper Installation

  1. Before installation, be sure to remove all protective seals.
  2. Blow out the inlet piping to remove any piping scraps, dirt and oil.
  3. This product must be installed vertically within the limits of inclination, with the inlet at the bottom and the outlet at the top.
  4. Install the product in a location where air is likely to collect, such as a bend in the piping.
  5. Install outlet piping leading to a drainage vessel or ditch. Make sure the end of the pipe is above the waterline, so that dirt and water can not be sucked up by vacuum when the system shuts down.
  6. Be sure to install a valve and strainer (40 mesh or finer) at the product inlet.
