BURKERT 20008302 Type 6281 Servo-Assisted 2/2-Way Solenoid Valve, G 1/2, Brass, EPDM, 24V DC

BURKERT 20008302 (Type 6281 EV) is a servo-assisted 2/2-way diaphragm solenoid valve configured in circuit function A (normally closed, inlet port 1 / P). Designed with a nominal orifice of DN 13 mm (pilot orifice 1.2 mm) and female G 1/2 process ports, the unit handles neutral liquids and gases within a pressure range of 0.2 to 16 bar. Media-contacting components combine a brass body conforming to DIN EN 50930-6 with ethylene-propylene-diene rubber (EPDM) seals. Powered by a 24 V DC solenoid rated for 100% continuous duty, the valve achieves a water flow factor (Kv) of 3.8 m³/h and a gas flow rate (QNn) of 4,100 l/min.

The servo-assisted diaphragm architecture requires a minimum differential pressure of 0.2 bar for opening, while opening the complete cross-section requires a pressure differential of 0.5 bar. When de-energized, the core spring presses the pilot seal against the pilot orifice, causing pressure to build above the diaphragm through a small equalization channel and keeping the valve tightly closed over the seat. Energizing the 24 V DC coil lifts the plunger to unseat the pilot channel, venting the chamber above the diaphragm to the outlet and allowing upstream medium pressure to lift the diaphragm for damped, low-noise opening.

Medium Compatibility with EPDM Seals

Valves fitted with EPDM seals are suitable for cold and hot water, and oil-free and fat-free liquids. Per source documentation, EPDM must not be used with media containing mineral oils, petrol, or hydrocarbons.

Installation and Electrical Connection

Mechanical Piping and Depressurization Notice

  • Switch off fluid pressure and vent all connecting pipework before loosening lines or fittings.
  • Clean pipes thoroughly and install a dirt trap or strainer upstream of the valve inlet with a mesh rating of ≤ 500 µm.
  • Do not use the solenoid coil as a lever arm when tightening process connections into the pipe.
  • Hold the valve body directly using an open-end wrench across wrench flats (SW 27 mm for DN 13).
  • Verify medium flow matches the direction of the arrow cast on the valve body.

Electrical Wiring

  1. Ensure the power supply is switched off and secured against unintentional re-activation.
  2. Connect the cable plug (Form A acc. to DIN EN 175301-803, such as Bürkert Type 2518 or 2509) using the flat gasket.
  3. Tighten the central cable plug retaining screw to a maximum torque of 1 Nm.
  4. Connect the protective ground conductor and verify electrical continuity between the solenoid housing and the brass valve body.

Solenoid Coil Replacement and Assembly

BURKERT 20008302 Type 6281 solenoid coil installation and tightening assembly

  1. Slide the solenoid coil housing over the core guide tube.
  2. Ensure the solenoid seats firmly on the housing lid and engages the anti-twist mechanism.
  3. Fasten the central fixing nut using an open-end wrench.
  4. Tighten the nut to the specified torque of 5 Nm for solenoid width 32 mm (AC10). Do not overtighten.

Fire Hazard from Unmounted Coils

Never energize the solenoid coil unless it is fully installed on the valve armature tube. Operating a detached solenoid causes rapid overheating and coil destruction.

Maintenance and Troubleshooting

Continuous Operation Guidance

To maintain functional reliability during extended plant downtime, perform at least 1 to 2 switching actuations per day.
