Burkert 20040563 Type SVVI is an 8-place electrical base module designed for the Type 8644 valve island system. It features an 11 mm width per station and is engineered for distributed use in industrial environments. The electronic base module is a core component of the valve unit, containing the electric plug connections for the valves and the electronics assembly for controlling them.

System Overview (Type 8644)

Type 8644 is an electrical and pneumatic automation system that has been optimised for use in the control cabinet or switch box. All electronic and pneumatic components are standardised in a continuous system, so that pneumatic, electric, and electronic modules with different functions can be combined very easily with each other, provided simple rules are followed. All components are connected via a locking mechanism, which simultaneously establishes the required electrical connections.

For type 8644, there are electronic base modules with slots for 2 or 8 valves. The 20040563 model provides 8 slots.

Disassembly and Installation

ATTENTION: Electrostatically Sensitive Components

The modules contain electronic components that are susceptible to the effects of electrostatic discharging (ESD). Components that come into contact with electrostatically charged persons or objects are at risk. In the worst-case scenario, these components will be destroyed immediately or fail after start-up.

• Meet the requirements specified by EN 61340-5-1 to minimise or avoid the possibility of damage caused by a sudden electrostatic discharge.
• Do not touch electronic components when the supply voltage is connected.

WARNING

• Secure the actuators against shifting before working on the modules, device, or system.
• Switch off the pressure and power supply before working on the modules. Vent or empty the lines and secure against reactivation.

Disassemble Electronic Base Module

1. Loosen the 2 fastening screws of each valve with a cross-tip screwdriver and remove the valves from the valve unit with the flange seal.
2. Loosen both latch hooks on the back of the pneumatic base module (e.g., with a slotted screwdriver).
3. Remove the electronic base module from the pneumatic base module in the direction of the arrow.

Install Electronic Base Module

Installation is carried out in the reverse order to disassembly.

1. Slide the electronic base module onto the pneumatic base module in the opposite direction of the arrow until it comes to a stop. The latch hooks must engage with the lock.
2. When reinstalling the valves on the valve unit, ensure the flange seal is inserted correctly into the valve.
3. Tighten the fastening screws of the valves crosswise.
