BURKERT 20044859 (Type 0330) is a direct-acting 2/2-way pivoted armature solenoid valve with stainless steel body, FKM seals, NPT 1/4 ports, 24V DC coil, and -1 to 3 bar operating pressure.

BURKERT 20044859 Type 0330 2/2-Way Solenoid Valve NPT 1/4 Stainless Steel FKM

BURKERT 20044859 (Type 0330) is a direct-acting, media-separated 2/2-way pivoted armature solenoid valve configured in circuit function A (normally closed, inlet port 1 P/NC). Designed with a 4.0 mm (5/32") orifice, 1.4401 stainless steel valve body, and FKM seals, it operates across a fluid pressure range from -1.0 bar (-0.98 bar vacuum) up to 3.0 bar. The unit is actuated by a 24 V DC epoxy coil with continuous 100% duty cycle rating and includes an integrated, lockable manual override for commissioning and functional testing.

BURKERT 20044859 Type 0330 direct-acting pivoted armature solenoid valve overview

Operating Principle and System Construction

Type 0330 uses a pivoted armature design where the solenoid actuator and the fluid chamber are completely isolated from each other by a flexible separating diaphragm system. Because process fluid does not contact the internal metallic actuator core, the valve handles aggressive, neutral, liquid, and gaseous media up to a maximum viscosity of 37 mm²/s without attacking the drive mechanism. The block-screwed epoxy coil system provides vibration resistance and high chemical stability.

Flow passes over the valve seat in circuit function A. The direct-acting mechanism guarantees full operational switching capability without requiring minimum differential pressure, switching in 10 to 20 ms during opening and closing under DC excitation.

Materials of Construction

All media-contacting surfaces utilize chemically inert materials. The main body and seat are precision-machined from 1.4401 stainless steel, and both the isolating diaphragm and internal sealing elements are molded from FKM fluor rubber (Shore hardness 70).

Mounting Pattern

The valve body is secured via two threaded M4 holes located on the underside of the housing. The mounting hole pattern is 38 mm x 24 mm with a maximum screw-in depth of 8 mm into the stainless steel body.

Fluidic and Port Connections

The valve operates strictly according to circuit function A (2/2-way direct-acting, normally closed):

  • Port 1 (Inlet P/NC): Primary pressure supply line connected to Port 1.
  • Port 2 (Outlet A): Working service line connected to Port 2.
  • Port 3: Not present / plugged on 2/2-way execution.

Flow direction runs over the valve seat. For reliable sealing and switching, media pressure must remain within -1.0 to 3.0 bar relative to atmospheric pressure.

Dirt Trap Requirement

To prevent particulate accumulation around the valve seat and diaphragm seal, install an upstream dirt trap or strainer with mesh size ≤ 500 µm before the valve inlet.

Manual Override Operation

An integrated manual override lever is situated on the side of the actuator body. It enables manual mechanical opening and closing of the valve seat during commissioning, manual venting, or maintenance testing without electrical power.

BURKERT 20044859 Type 0330 manual override mechanism and locking operation

  1. Press and hold the manual override pin inward.
  2. Turn the override pin clockwise to lock the valve into the manually actuated open position.
  3. Turn the pin counter-clockwise to release the manual lock and return the valve to normal solenoid-controlled operation.

Manual Override Interlock

When the manual override is locked in the operated position, the valve cannot be actuated or closed electrically. Verify that the manual override is fully disengaged before initiating automated system processes.

Electrical Installation and Wiring

Electrical connection is established through standard terminal spade contacts conforming to DIN EN 175301-803 (formerly DIN 43 650) Form A. Contact pins are brass.

BURKERT 20044859 Type 0330 DIN EN 175301-803 Form A plug connection and sealing

  • Terminal 1 and Terminal 2: Connect 24 V DC supply (+ / -). The internal bridge circuit allows connection independent of terminal polarity.
  • Protective Earth (PE) Terminal: Connect the protective ground conductor directly to the designated earth terminal.
  • Cable Plug Fastening: Place the profiling flat seal between the coil interface and the cable plug (such as Type 2518). Tighten the central fastening screw to a maximum tightening torque of 1.0 Nm to guarantee IP65 ingress protection.

Safety Instructions

  • Disconnect electrical supply and depressurize pipelines before performing any electrical installation or dismantling.
  • Never use the coil housing as a lever arm when tightening the NPT 1/4 pipe connections into rigid process lines.
  • Verify electrical continuity between the protective earth terminal and the stainless steel body.

Maintenance, Safety, and Troubleshooting

Under clean process fluid conditions, the pivoted armature mechanism is maintenance-free. If operational irregularities occur, inspect the system parameters against the diagnostics below:
