BURKERT 20046156 Type 8647 AirLINE SP Electropneumatic Valve Island

Type 8647 AirLINE SP electropneumatic valve island. Modular automation system for direct integration with Siemens SIMATIC ET 200SP and ET 200SP HA. Features AirLINE Quick and safety shut-off.

BURKERT 20046156 Type 8647 AirLINE SP Electropneumatic Valve Island

Burkert Type 8647 AirLINE SP is a modular, electropneumatic automation system consisting of connection and valve modules. It has been especially developed for safe and complete integration into the decentralised peripheral systems "SIMATIC ET 200SP" and "SIMATIC ET 200SP HA" from Siemens. Pneumatically operated process valves, pneumatic cylinders, or other pneumatic components can be connected to the pneumatic outputs. If the pneumatic components are installed with position feedbacks, the position of the actuated pneumatic components can be displayed on the associated pilot valve, saving time on start-up and maintenance.

Integration with Siemens SIMATIC

Combining modules from the distributed Siemens I/O systems SIMATIC ET 200SP/SP HA with the valve block AirLINE SP Type 8647 provides an integrated system of electronic and pneumatic components.

System Extension Limits

  • SIMATIC ET 200SP: Up to 64 I/O modules/connection units/electronic basic modules in a complete valve island. Several valve blocks are possible in one station as long as the permissible width is adhered to.
  • SIMATIC ET 200SP HA: Up to 56 I/O modules/connection units/electronic basic modules. Only one valve block per station is possible, and it can only be mounted to the right of a SIMATIC ET 200SP HA station.

Product Variants and Revisions

The single valves Type 6524 and Type 6525, the pneumatic basic and connection modules, and the control cabinet base adaptation AirLINE Quick have been optimised in Revision 2 (REV.2).

BURKERT 20046156 Burkert Type 8647 AirLINE SP distinguishing features between REV.1 and REV.2

  • REV.1: Black release rings (hose connector), parallel channel arrangement of the working connections.
  • REV.2: Blue release rings, wavy channel arrangement. Flow reduction with integrated P shut-off is up to 20% (compared to up to 50% in REV.1).

AirLINE Quick

AirLINE Quick considerably reduces the use of components in the control cabinet. With the AirLINE Quick Adapter, the valve terminal is adapted directly to the control cabinet floor or control cabinet wall.

BURKERT 20046156 Burkert Type 8647 AirLINE Quick adapter in stainless steel or anodised aluminium

  • Reduced space requirement in the control cabinet, making it possible to use more compact control cabinets.
  • Reduced installation effort due to hose connections directly at the bottom of the control cabinet.
  • Available with 4, 8, 12, 16, or 24 valve slots (up to 48 valve functions).

Safety Application Notes

The electrical shutdown of valve Types 6524 and 6525 causes them to return to the rest position. To avoid brief back pressures in the event of a safety shutdown, the use of valve blocks with integrated check valves is strongly recommended.

The device offers variants for safety-related shut-off:

  • SIA or EVS shut-off function: Allows external shutdown of individual valves or module-by-module shutdown of all valves. The diagnostic functions and the displays remain available on the LC display of the PQ modules.
  • System setup with F-PM-E power module: Meets the requirements for safety-related control systems in accordance with applicable standards (e.g., DIN EN ISO 13849 or EN IEC 62061). In the event of a shutdown, the diagnostic functions and displays are not available on the LC display for the duration of the shutdown.

Pilot Solenoid Valves

The valve island integrates various pilot valves to suit different pneumatic requirements:

  • Type 6524 & Type 6525: 3/2-way, 2x3/2-way, and 5/2-way valves consisting of a flipper solenoid valve Type 6144 and a pneumatic seat valve. They allow switching of high pressures with low power consumption (0.8 W per valve).
  • Type 0460: 5/2-way and 5/3-way bistable valves consisting of a pneumatic valve body fitted with a double coil pilot valve. They offer fast switching times and a flow rate of 200 l/min.
