BURKERT 20064930 Type 2100 Pneumatic 2/2-Way Angle Seat Valve, DN65 SMS 3008 Weld End NC

BURKERT 20064930 (Type 2100) is a pneumatically operated 2/2-way angle seat valve designed for decentralized process automation in hygienic, utility, and demanding industrial fluid applications. Configured with an SMS 3008 pipe weld end connection in nominal size DN65 (pipe outer diameter 63.5 mm, wall thickness 1.6 mm), this valve operates under Control Function A (normally closed by spring force). The process fluid enters below the valve seat, allowing safe shut-off of liquids, steam, and gases without water hammer risk.

BURKERT 20064930 Type 2100 angle seat valve overview

The ELEMENT design platform integrates an internal pilot air routing system inside the stainless steel actuator, eliminating external tubing when paired with modular control heads. Spindle sealing relies on a self-adjusting PTFE V-ring packing gland with spring compensation, tested to Leakage Rate A according to DIN EN 12266-1. The valve provides full CIP and SIP capability, with wetted materials compliant with EC Regulation 1935/2004.

Flow Characteristics and Operating Principles

BURKERT 20064930 Type 2100 flow direction below the seat schematic

Article 20064930 operates with flow entering below the seat. In this configuration, fluid pressure acts beneath the swivel plate, assisting the opening motion when pilot pressure is supplied to pilot port 1. When pilot pressure vents, spring force acts downward to close the swivel plate against incoming media flow.

Flow Direction Recommendation

Flow direction below the seat is engineered for liquid media, steam, and gases. Closing against media flow prevents hydraulic shock (water hammer) in pipeline networks.

Water Hammer Prevention

Do not reverse fluid flow direction to above the seat when conveying liquid media. Liquid water hammer can cause rupture of pipelines and valve housings.

Pressure and Temperature Operating Limits

Operating limits are determined by the pressure-temperature rating of the body material and the standard pipe connection.

BURKERT 20064930 Type 2100 operating limits for medium temperature and operating pressure

Medium Temperature (°C)Maximum Operating Pressure PN25 (bar)Maximum Operating Pressure Class 150 (bar)
-10 °C to +50 °C25.0 bar18.4 bar
+100 °C24.5 bar16.2 bar
+150 °C22.4 bar14.8 bar
+185 °C21.0 bar14.0 bar

For 20064930, the maximum operating pressure is 16 bar up to 140 °C, derating in accordance with the Class 150 curve at higher temperatures.

Installation and Welding Procedures

Prior to welding the stainless steel body into the piping system, the actuator must be separated from the body to protect the internal seals and spring mechanisms from thermal damage.

Disassembly Prior to Welding

  1. Clamp the valve body firmly in a holding fixture.
  2. Apply 5.0 bar compressed air to pilot air port 1 to pneumatically lift the swivel plate off the valve seat.
  3. Position an open-end wrench on the wrench flats of the body connection.
  4. Unscrew the actuator assembly from the valve body.
  5. Keep the internal PTFE seat seal and graphite body seal clean and protected from welding debris.

Welding and Reassembly

  1. Align pipeline ends precisely with the SMS 3008 weld spigots (63.5 mm OD × 1.6 mm).
  2. Weld the body into the pipeline using orbital TIG or manual GTAW welding procedures.
  3. Allow the welded joint to cool completely to ambient temperature.
  4. Verify the seating face and thread inside the valve body are clean and undamaged.
  5. Lightly lubricate the body connection thread with Klüberpaste UH1 96-402.
  6. Pressurize pilot air port 1 with 5.0 bar compressed air to ensure the valve remains in the open position during installation.
  7. Screw the actuator back into the body and tighten to the specified torque.

Rotating the Actuator Assembly

The pilot air connections can be rotated continuously over 360° to adjust to pneumatic tubing layouts.

BURKERT 20064930 Type 2100 actuator rotation direction

Rotation Precaution

Rotate the actuator only in the designated clockwise direction indicated on the housing. Turning in the opposite direction risks loosening the threaded body connection joint.

  1. Secure the valve body in a holding device.
  2. Pressurize pilot air port 1 with 5.0 bar compressed air so the valve seat is in the fully open position.
  3. Hold the body connection hexagon with one open-end wrench.
  4. Apply a second wrench to the actuator drive connection nut and rotate clockwise to the required angular position.

Pneumatic Connections

Pilot air supply lines connect to pilot port 1 (marked on the actuator cover). For standalone valves, the supplied exhaust silencer is installed into free port 2. In aggressive process environments, route free exhaust ports via pneumatic tubing into a neutral atmosphere.

  • Minimum pilot pressure: 5.6 bar
  • Maximum pilot pressure: 7.0 bar
  • Control medium: Neutral gases, filtered compressed air
  • Tubing connection: 6 mm (1/4") outer diameter push-in connector or G 1/8 thread

Maintenance and Visual Inspection

Inspect the valve at regular maintenance intervals for external tightness and mechanical integrity.
