BURKERT 20073142 Type 8640 Modular Valve Island

Burkert 20073142 Type 8640 modular valve island for pneumatics. Features 11mm width, 16x 5/2 valve function H, G 1/4 pressure port, and collective socket module.

BURKERT 20073142 Type 8640 Modular Valve Island

The BURKERT 20073142 Type 8640 valve unit system is designed to solve diverse and complex control problems due to its systematic modular construction and combination of pneumatic and electrical interfaces. By putting together a row of pneumatic modules with different numbers of valves, 2 to 24 valve functionalities may be realized on one valve unit. Electrical connectivity is achieved by either fieldbus interfaces, common connection (parallel connection technique) or multipin interfaces. The valves allow different applications to be covered. Bodies and connection modules are made of high-quality plastic (polyamide) and are easy to assemble by means of the built-in snap connectors.

BURKERT 20073142 Type 8640 modular valve island overview

Key Features

  • Compact design and modular configuration.
  • Higher flexibility in the control cabinet due to AirLINE Quick.
  • Simple exchange of valves (with option “P-shut-off” – also possible during operation).

AirLINE Quick

AirLINE Quick considerably reduces the use of components in the control cabinet. With the AirLINE Quick Adapter, the valve terminal is adapted directly to the control cabinet floor or control cabinet wall.

Advantages:

  • Reduced space requirement in the control cabinet.
  • Makes it possible to use more compact control cabinets.
  • Reduced installation effort due to hose connections directly at the bottom of the control cabinet.

INFO

Type 0460 valves cannot be installed with AirLINE Quick because of their size.

WARNING

Only operate the manual override when the power is off.

Installing Multiple Blocks

BURKERT 20073142 Type 8640 multi-block installation

  1. Begin installation with connection module on the left.
  2. Check modules for complete installation with 2 O-rings each.
  3. Lightly oil or grease all O-rings before engaging.
  4. Engage the lower latch hooks of the module to be attached in the latch grooves of the preceding module. Make sure that the O-rings are properly seated.
  5. Press the module to be locked upwards slightly and engage the upper latch hook.
  6. Insert 3 O-rings into the recess on the back of the valve and ensure that the seal is properly fitted.

DANGER

Crushed O-rings and profile seals lead to leaky blocks.

Valve Block Installation

BURKERT 20073142 Type 8640 valve block installation

Standard rail installation:

  • Hook the valve block with the upper groove into the standard rail (35 x 15 or 35 x 7.5 EN 50022).
  • Snap the lower clamping pieces into the standard rail.
  • Tighten the screws on the clamping pieces.

Wall installation:

  • Fasten the valve block directly to the wall with M4 screws.
