BURKERT 20073481 Type SVVI Electrical Base Module for Type 8640, 11mm

Burkert 20073481 Type SVVI is an electrical base module designed specifically for the Type 8640 valve island system. It features an 11 mm add-on dimension per station and provides a 6-place slot configuration for double valves. The module utilizes a collective socket for its modular version and is identified as Generation Revision 1/2. As a core component of the valve unit, it contains the electric plug connections for the valves and the electronics assembly required for controlling the pneumatic outputs.

System Overview: Type 8640

Type 8640 is designed for use in an industrial environment. The valves can be easily and efficiently combined due to the modular structure. It is suitable for solving varied and complex control tasks thanks to its consistent modular structure with regard to pneumatic and electrical interfaces.

Burkert 20073481 Type SVVI valve island type 8640 overview

The arrangement of pneumatic modules with varying numbers of valves makes it possible to realize up to 24 valve functions on one valve island. Housing and connection modules are manufactured from high-quality plastic (polyamide) and are connected via built-in interlocking technology.

Electronic Base Module Type 8640

The electronic base module is part of the valve unit. It is usually connected to the neighbouring modules via its electrical interface. In this way, it receives both the power supply and the control signals for the valves on the valve slots.

For type 8640, there are electronic base modules with slots for 6, 8, or 12 valves. Depending on the valve type used, 1 or 2 electrical outputs are provided per slot.

ATTENTION: Electrostatically sensitive components

The modules contain electronic components that are susceptible to the effects of electrostatic discharging (ESD). Components that come into contact with electrostatically charged persons or objects are at risk and may be destroyed immediately or fail after start-up. Meet the requirements specified by EN 61340-5-1 to minimize or avoid the possibility of damage. Do not touch electronic components when the supply voltage is connected.

Disassembly and Installation

CAUTION

Risk of injury due to high pressure, escaping medium, and electric shock. Secure the actuators against shifting, switch off the pressure, and vent or empty the lines before working on the modules. Switch off the power supply and secure it against reactivation.

Disassemble Electronic Base Module

  1. Loosen the 2 fastening screws of each valve with a cross-tip screwdriver and remove the valves from the valve unit with the flange seal.
  2. Loosen connecting screws between the pneumatic base module and the electronic base module.
  3. Remove the electronic base module from above.
  4. Remove the entire electronics assembly if necessary, so that the electronics assembly is completely disconnected from the pneumatics.

Install Electronic Base Module

Installation is carried out in the reverse order to disassembly.

  1. Place the electronic base module on the pneumatic base module.
  2. Connect both modules with the connecting screws.
  3. Reinstall the valves on the valve unit, ensuring the flange seal is inserted correctly. Tighten the fastening screws of the valves crosswise.
