BURKERT 20082580 Type 8644 Valve Island, 11 mm, Mixed Valve Population

Burkert 20082580 Type 8644 is a valve island with an 11 mm add-on dimension and a mixed valve population. The AirLINE system represents a universal interface between process and system control. It integrates electric and pneumatic building blocks into an assembly, enabling a modular and flexible structure of fieldbus modules, pilot valves, and I/O modules thanks to simple locking technology on the standard rail. This specific configuration features a G 1/4 pressure port, D6 working port, and is combinable with the WAGO internal bus communication system. It operates within a pressure range of 2.5 to 10 bar and a medium temperature range of 0 °C to 50 °C.

System Description

The Type 8644 Bürkert AirLINE is an electrical and pneumatic automation system developed for use in the control cabinet or switch box. In a continuous system, all electronic and pneumatic components are standardized, enabling pneumatic, electric, and electronic modules with various functions to be combined very easily with each other by the observation of simple rules.

Burkert 20082580 Type 8644 AirLINE system overview

Characteristic features of AirLINE:

  • Easy to handle
  • Function block-oriented structure of the switch box or control cabinet
  • Automatic setup of potential groups, electric, data, and safety circuits
  • Open, flexible and modular structure
  • Combination of the valve discs and terminals in different granularity for space-optimized station structure

Advantages of AirLINE:

  • Flow-optimized valve structure (Pressure range of vacuum up to 10 bar)
  • Integration of non-return valves in pneumatic base module (optional)
  • Long service life thanks to flipper technology with oiled and unoiled air
  • Simple combination of different functions, configuration and expansion thanks to high modularity
  • Mechanical emergency manual override

Solenoid Valves (11 mm)

Solenoid valves Type 6524 and Type 6525

Burkert 20082580 Type 8644 solenoid valves Type 6524 and Type 6525

  • The pilot valves Type 6524 (single and double valve) and Type 6525 (single valve) consist of a pilot flipper solenoid valve Type 6144 and a pneumatic seat valve.
  • The circuit function allows switching of high pressures with low power consumption and short switching times.
  • The pilot valves are equipped with a manual override as standard.

Solenoid valves Type 0460

Burkert 20082580 Type 8644 solenoid valves Type 0460

  • The solenoid valve Type 0460 consists of a pneumatic valve body fitted with a double coil pilot valve.
  • The principle allows switching of high pressures together with low power consumption and fast switching times.
  • All valves are equipped with manual override as a standard.

Pneumatic Base Module with Integrated P Shut-off

The P shut-off can be integrated in the module for the pneumatic base modules MP11 (11 mm), 2-fold and 8-fold versions. This option allows a defective valve to be changed under pressure without having to depressurize the complete valve cluster or system. When the valve is changed by a mechanism, the open cross section is reduced until only a slight residual leakage occurs.

Restrictions for P shut-off

  • The flow rate of the valves Type 6524 / 6525 is reduced to approx. 60%.
  • The operating pressure range must be between 5 and 7 bar if the P shut-off is used, otherwise there may be problems with the P shut-off.
  • The P shut-off can be used only in conjunction with the valves with internal control air within the restricted pressure range.

Prevent a pressure drop

If using the P shut-off base modules, ensure that the pressure supply of the valve clusters is designed with a correspondingly large volume (minimum hose diameter 8/6 mm).
