BURKERT 20121245 (Type 2933) 2/2-Way Manual Diaphragm Valve, Forged SS, Clamp

BURKERT 20121245 (Type 2933) is a manually operated 2/2-way diaphragm valve designed for hygienic and aggressive ambient conditions. It consists of a manual actuator with a plastic or stainless steel handwheel, a PTFE/EPDM diaphragm, and a flow-optimized 2-way forged stainless steel valve body. The minimum dead space design enables high flow values and a wide range of possible applications in the food, beverage, biotechnology, and pharmaceutical industries. The actuator features a compact, autoclavable design equipped with an integrated visual position indicator, a reproducible stroke scale, and an adjustable closing limiter.

Approvals and Conformities

  • FDA: The diaphragms made of PTFE/EPDM comply with the Code of Federal Regulations published by the FDA.
  • USP: The diaphragms are tested according to United States Pharmacopeial Convention (USP) Class VI.
  • EC Regulation 1935/2004: Suitable for use with food and beverages.
  • Explosion Protection: ATEX / IECEx Category 2 device suitable for zone 1/21 and zone 2/22 (valid for variable code PX51).

Function and Position Indicator

By manually overriding the handwheel, the force is transmitted via a spindle and the valve is opened or closed. Turning the handwheel anticlockwise opens the valve, turning it clockwise closes it.

BURKERT 20121245 visual position indicator

Turning the handwheel counterclockwise reveals the yellow position indicator and the scale marked on it as the valve opens further. The stroke scale shows the relative position of the valve and serves as a fixation point for determining the rotation position.

TIP

To protect the actuator, we recommend not closing the actuator with more force than is required to close the valve tightly.

Installation

Installation Position for Self-Draining

BURKERT 20121245 installation position for self-draining

It is the responsibility of the installer and the operator to ensure self-draining. Observe the rules for self-draining during installation:

  1. Inclination angle of the pipeline: The angle of inclination should correspond to the angle of inclination of the pipeline. For the pipeline, we recommend the inclination angles according to the valid ASME BPE.
  2. Self-draining angle for valve body: The self-draining angle (α) depends on the valve body size and the inner diameter of the port connection (DN). The marking on the port connection of the valve body serves as an orientation aid. The marking must point upwards.
