BURKERT 20150029 Type 8640 modular valve island for pneumatics. Features 16.5 mm width per station, G 3/8 pressure port, IP20 protection, and 2-10 bar operating pressure.

BURKERT 20150029 Type 8640 Modular Valve Island for Pneumatics, 16.5 mm Width

BURKERT 20150029 Type 8640 modular valve island for pneumatics is designed to solve diverse and complex control problems through its systematic modular construction and combination of pneumatic and electrical interfaces. By assembling a row of pneumatic modules with different numbers of valves, 2 to 24 valve functionalities can be realized on a single valve unit.

Bodies and connection modules are constructed from polyamide plastic and are assembled using built-in snap connectors. The system features a modular configuration and provides flexibility in the control cabinet when used with the AirLINE Quick adapter.

Installation

Risk of injury due to high pressure and escaping medium

Switch off the pressure before working on the device or system. Vent or drain the pipes.

Risk of injury from quickly accelerating device parts

Before applying pressure to the valve, check all hose connections and fittings for tight, secure fit. Unconnected compressed air hoses can flap around.

Valve Block Installation

BURKERT 20150029 Type 8640 mounting the valve block

Standard rail installation:

  1. Hook the valve block with the upper groove into the standard rail (35 x 15 or 35 x 7.5 EN 50022).
  2. Snap the lower clamping pieces into the standard rail.
  3. Tighten the screws on the clamping pieces.

Wall installation: Fasten the valve block directly to the wall with M4 screws.

Pneumatic Installation

Installation Position

The installation position of the valves is as required, preferably with the solenoid actuator on top.

  1. Check the hose lines for contamination and clean them.
  2. If necessary, install dirt traps upstream of the valve inlet (≤ 5 µm).
  3. Push the hose lines into the push-in connections of the solenoid valves until they come to a stop.
  4. Use PTFE tape or elastomer seal for sealing the threaded connection.
  5. Connect the supply and working lines to the valve block.

Requirements for hose lines:

  • Minimum hardness 40 Shore D (according to DIN 53505 or ISO 868).
  • Outer diameter according to DIN 73378 (maximum permissible deviation ± 0.1 mm from nominal dimension).
  • Burr-free, cut off at right angles and undamaged on the outer diameter surface.

Electrical Installation

Risk of injury due to electric shock

Switch off voltage before working on the device or system. Secure against reactivation. When screwing in the solenoid with the cable plug, make sure that the seal is properly seated.

  1. Screw on the cable plug, observing the maximum tightening torque of 0.3 Nm.
  2. Check that the seal is correctly fitted.
  3. Connect the protective conductor and check electrical continuity between coil and housing.
