BURKERT 310016 Type 6519 5/2-Way Pneumatic Solenoid Valve G 1/4 NAMUR 48V DC

Burkert 310016 (Type 6519) is a 5/2-way pneumatic solenoid valve with NAMUR flange interface, G 1/4 supply ports, 48 V DC coil, 900 l/min gas flow rate, and 2 to 10 bar operating pressure.

BURKERT 310016 Type 6519 5/2-Way Pneumatic Solenoid Valve G 1/4 NAMUR 48V DC

Burkert 310016 (Type 6519) is a 32 mm width 5/2-way pneumatic solenoid valve designed for pilot actuation of pneumatic actuators and process valves. Configured in valve circuit function W (normally open), inlet port 1 connects to outlet port 2, outlet port 4 connects to exhaust port 5, and exhaust port 3 is closed. Alternatively, when switched, inlet port 1 closes, and outlet ports 2 and 4 connect to exhaust port 5. The unit is electrically piloted by a 48 V DC solenoid coil and provides a nominal gas flow capacity (QNn) of 900 l/min across an operating pressure range of 2.0 to 10.0 bar.

Process and Pneumatic Interfaces

Burkert 310016 incorporates a standardized NAMUR FM02 working port flange configuration situated to the left of the fluidic supply port. This interface permits direct mounting to quarter-turn pneumatic actuators conforming to VDI/VDE 3845 standards, eliminating the need for external inter-connecting tubing.

  • Inlet and Exhaust Ports: Threaded connection using G 1/4 internal thread.
  • Actuator Connection: Direct mounting via NAMUR FM02 pattern.
  • Return Method: Combined pneumatic spring and internal mechanical spring ensuring fail-safe return to default position upon electrical de-energization.
  • Manual Override: Allows manual actuation of the valve mechanism during setup, commissioning, or testing without electrical power.

NAMUR Interface Standard

The FM02 flange interface mates directly to NAMUR-compliant actuator ports. Ensure mounting surfaces are clean and O-rings are seated flat before securing the fixing bolts.

Electrical System and Solenoid Operation

The valve utilizes an electrical pilot operator rated for 48 V DC. The electrical termination conforms to DIN EN 175301-803 Form A plug pattern.

  • Operating Voltage: 48 V DC (min. 48 V / max. 48 V, DC only, AC not supported).
  • Integrated Power Reduction: Not integrated.
  • Cable Plug Scope: Cable plug is not included in standard delivery and must be provided or ordered separately.
  • Enclosure Protection: IP65 rating is achieved when fitted with a matching DIN EN 175301-803 Form A connector that is properly seated and secured.

Electrical Safety and Disconnection

  • Disconnect power supply and ensure it cannot be accidentally re-energized before performing any electrical connection or maintenance.
  • Always connect the protective conductor (PE) in accordance with applicable electrical safety regulations.
  • Operate strictly within the nominal 48 V DC rating to prevent coil overheating.

Installation and Operating Conditions

Pressure and Static Hazard Instructions

  • Before loosening pneumatic connections or dismounting the valve from the actuator, shut off line pressure and fully vent all lines.
  • Do not use the solenoid coil or valve body as a lever when tightening threaded pipe connections.
  • Clean the external surface of the valve only with a damp or antistatic cloth to prevent electrostatic discharge.

Thermal and Mounting Requirements

When installed, heat dissipation from the pilot coil occurs through the valve body. The valve body provides cooling for the solenoid coil assembly:

  • The minimum required body dimensions for thermal transfer are 32 mm x 32 mm x 10 mm.
  • Permissible medium temperature ranges from -10 °C to +55 °C.
  • Permissible ambient temperature ranges from -25 °C to +55 °C.

Pre-Commissioning Checklist

Verify the following steps before initiating pressurized operation:

  1. Ensure the valve body is securely fastened to the actuator flange or manifold block.
  2. Ensure all pneumatic lines are purged of debris, scale, and sealant residues before connecting to G 1/4 ports.
  3. Verify that the operating pressure does not fall below 2.0 bar or exceed 10.0 bar.
  4. Check that the electrical plug seal is undamaged, the connector is securely seated, and the central screw is torqued.

Maintenance and Storage

Under specified operating conditions, the Type 6519 pneumatic valve is maintenance-free. If operational errors occur, verify that pneumatic pressure is within 2.0 to 10.0 bar, supply voltage is 48 V DC, lines are free of blockages, and electrical connections are intact.

Storage and Disposal

  • Permissible storage temperature: -40 °C to +80 °C in dry and dust-free conditions.
  • Protect the valve against impact, dirt, and moisture during transport.
  • Dispose of electronic components and polymer bodies according to national environmental regulations for industrial technical waste.
