Spirax Sarco LRV2B and LRV2S Gunmetal Pressure Reducing Valves

Spirax Sarco LRV2B and LRV2S are direct acting gunmetal bodied pressure reducing valves suitable for liquid applications. Available in ½" to 1" sizes with screwed BSP or NPT connections. LRV2B features phosphor bronze bellows while LRV2S has stainless steel (316Ti/316L) bellows. Three spring ranges (0.35-1.7, 1.4-4.0, 3.5-8.6 bar g) with color-coded adjustment handwheels for easy identification.

Spirax Sarco LRV2S Gunmetal Pressure Reducing Valve

Product Overview

The LRV2B and LRV2S are direct acting pressure reducing valves suitable for liquid applications. They feature a gunmetal body with screwed connections and are designed for reliable downstream pressure control.

Available types:

  • LRV2B: Phosphor bronze/brass bellows
  • LRV2S: Stainless steel (316Ti/316L) bellows

Spring Ranges (Color Coded)

The valve is supplied with one of three color coded springs, identified by the disc on the adjustment handwheel:

ColorDownstream Pressure Range
Grey0.35 to 1.7 bar g (5.08 to 24.7 psi g)
Green1.40 to 4.0 bar g (20.3 to 58.0 psi g)
Orange3.50 to 8.6 bar g (50.8 to 125 psi g)

Note: Where control spring ranges overlap, always use the lower range to give better control.

Sizes and Pipe Connections

  • Sizes: ½", ¾", and 1"
  • Connections: Screwed BSP (BS 21 Rp) or NPT

Installation

Safety Note

The product must not be used in the shaded region of the pressure/temperature chart.

Installation requirements:

  • Install in a horizontal pipeline with flow direction as indicated by the arrow on the valve body
  • Isolation valves (upstream and downstream) should be installed with a clear run of 8-10 diameters on either side
  • Line stresses caused by expansion or inadequate pipe support must not be imposed on the valve body
  • Piping on both inlet and outlet must be of ample size to avoid undue pressure drop
  • A strainer in the upstream supply provides additional protection
  • A pressure gauge is essential in the downstream pipework for setting the operating pressure

Adjustment:

  • Turn adjustment knob clockwise to increase pressure
  • Turn anti-clockwise to reduce pressure
  • Before changing pressure, ensure the Tamper-proof pin has not been fitted

Maintenance

The valve and seat must be kept clean. Any strainer fitted upstream of the LRV2, and the inbuilt strainer screen, should be cleaned regularly to ensure flow is not restricted.

Setting Pressure

  1. Slacken off the adjustment by turning the knob fully anti-clockwise
  2. Open the isolating valves
  3. Set pressure with normal running load passing through the valve
  4. Turn adjustment knob clockwise until required pressure is obtained

Under reduced flow conditions, the downstream pressure will rise but will control slightly higher than the set pressure.
