Product Overview

The Spirax Sarco TD42S2 thermodynamic steam trap is a high-efficiency drainage device specifically designed for steam systems, manufactured with a forged steel body, featuring excellent pressure and temperature resistance. The product provides standard and low discharge LC models, with all LC model port sizes featuring low discharge design, specifically adapted for steam main and tracing line drainage requirements.

This product strictly complies with the European Pressure Equipment Directive 97/23/EC, and can provide EN 10204 3.1 standard test certificates according to customer requirements (must be specified when ordering). The product is certified by UKAS (Cert No. LRQ 0963008) and ISO 9001, with stable and reliable quality, suitable for long-term operation under complex industrial conditions.

Note: When used for extended periods at temperatures above 425℃, the carbon phase compounds in steel may convert to graphite. Use at this temperature is permitted but long-term application is not recommended.

Port Sizes and Pipe Connections

The product provides multiple port size options, all using socket weld connections, compliant with ANSI B16.11 Sch 80/BS3799 Class 3000 Ib standards. Specific port sizes include:

  • Standard Model: ½", ¾", 1"
  • Low Discharge Model (LC): ½"LC, ¾"LC, 1"LC

Optional Accessories

  • Thermal Insulation Cover: Made of aluminum, effectively reduces excessive heat loss from the steam trap due to exposure to low temperature environments or weather, preventing excessive cycling and ensuring operational stability.
  • Integrated Blowdown Valve: The filter cover can be drilled and tapped with 3/8" BSP or NPT threads for installing a blowdown valve (recommended models BDV1 or BDV2), facilitating blowdown maintenance.

Installation Requirements

  1. It is recommended to install the TD42S2 steam trap horizontally, with a descending pipe section upstream of the valve to ensure drainage efficiency.
  2. The product can also be installed and operated in other orientations according to actual operating requirements.

Discharge Characteristics

Product discharge is closely related to condensate quantity and pressure differential. Discharge curves for different specifications and models can be found in the discharge charts in technical documentation (condensate quantity unit: kg/h, pressure differential unit: bar, ×100=kPa). When selecting, choose the correct model according to actual operating conditions to ensure normal operation and extend service life. For steam main and tracing line drainage, regardless of pipe diameter, LC (Low Discharge) type steam traps are recommended.
