

TLV JH5SL-B inline repairable free float steam trap with thermostatic bimetal air vent. Suitable for heat exchangers and process heaters up to 6.5 MPaG.

TLV JH5SL-B free float steam trap is an inline repairable JHS-B series trap equipped with a thermostatic bimetal air vent. It is suitable for a wide range of applications with small-to-large capacities and pressures up to 6.5 MPaG (925 psig), such as all kinds of heat exchangers, process heaters, and coils. The trap discharges condensate continuously and automatically, at a temperature slightly lower than saturation temperature.

Operational Limits
To avoid malfunctions, product damage, accidents, or serious injury, install properly and DO NOT use this product outside the specification range. Maximum allowable pressure (PMA) and maximum allowable temperature (TMA) are PRESSURE SHELL DESIGN CONDITIONS, NOT OPERATING CONDITIONS.

| Requirement | Description |
|---|---|
| Catchpot | Install a catchpot with the proper diameter. Do not use a diameter that is too small. |
| Condensate Flow | Make sure the flow of condensate is not obstructed. The inlet should not protrude into the pipe. |
| Inlet Pipe Location | To prevent rust and scale from flowing into the trap, connect the inlet pipe 25 - 50 mm (1 - 2 in) above the base of the T-pipe. |
| Blind End | When installing on the blind end, make sure nothing obstructs the flow of condensate. |
Operational inspections should be performed at least twice per year, or as called for by trap operating conditions.
Float Hazard
NEVER apply direct heat to the float. The float may explode due to increased internal pressure, causing accidents leading to serious injury or property and equipment damage.

A visual inspection can be carried out to aid in determining the necessity for immediate maintenance or repair if the trap is open to atmosphere.
(Note: When conducting a visual inspection, flash steam is sometimes mistaken for steam leakage. Flash steam appears as a white jet containing water droplets, while live steam leakage appears as a clear, slightly bluish jet.)
