TLV JL14X JL14-X / JLH14-X Process Float Steam Trap

TLV JL14-X and JLH14-X are extremely durable, inline-repairable, high-capacity float steam traps with thermostatic air venting, designed for large process or heating equipment. The series includes the cast iron JL14-X and cast steel JLH14-X, capable of handling maximum operating pressures of up to 32 barg and temperatures up to 240 °C (or 400 °C with the optional bimetal air vent unit).

Features

  • Double-seated valve with heat-treat hardened valve seat and valve head provides continuous, smooth, low-velocity condensate discharge as process loads vary.
  • Self-aligning valve mechanism with stainless steel internals minimizes wear.
  • Thermostatic capsule (X-element) with “fail open” feature vents air automatically until close-to-steam temperature.
  • Easy, inline access to internal parts simplifies cleaning and reduces maintenance costs.
  • High-quality stainless steel internals and hardened valve surfaces ensure reliability.

Installation and Piping Checks

Sample Installation Requirements:

  • Install a bypass valve and inlet and outlet isolation valves for use in the event of trap failure or when performing maintenance.
  • Install a strainer (40 to 60 mesh) ahead of the product.
  • The product should be inclined no more than 5° horizontally and front-to-back. Leave adequate clearance for a maintenance space (at least 300 mm) above the trap cover.
  • Connect outlet piping. Be sure to size outlet piping large enough to accommodate any flash steam that may form to prevent any increase in back pressure and allow at least 1 m straight piping to avoid possible pipe erosion.
