Yoshitake PF-2000 Pumping Trap, 0.5 MPa

Yoshitake PF-2000 Pumping Trap is an ultra-compact mechanical pump designed for the efficient recovery and discharge of steam condensate and non-hazardous fluids. Operating on either steam or air pressure, it requires no electrical equipment, making it suitable for a wide range of industrial environments, including tight spaces and hazardous areas.

The PF-2000 features a durable ductile cast iron (FCD450) body and stainless steel trim parts. Its design allows for easy maintenance, as the main internal components are attached to the cover, enabling inspection and repair without removing the body from the piping.

Flow Rate Correction Coefficient

Discharge capacity varies depending on condensate flow-in-height. Multiply the volume by the following factors according to the condensate flow-in-height (the height from the bottom of the product to the bottom part of the receiver).

Structure and Operation

State 1 (Filling): Condensate flows into the body via the condensate inlet and check valve, and the float (P) moves upward due to buoyancy.

State 2 (Discharging): When the condensate level rises and the float (P) reaches a certain height, the inlet valve is opened by valve (P), and then the vent valve of valve (P) closes. The driving pressure enters the body following the opening of the inlet valve, closing the check valve and stopping the condensate flowing in. Condensate inside the body is transferred to the outlet side and discharged. When condensate is discharged, the float (P) moves downward in line with the water level in the body. When it drops to a certain height, the inlet valve is closed and the vent valve of valve (P) opens. Internal pressure is released by the vent valve, returning to State 1.

Installation Cautions

  • Condensate may blow out of the vent port following a driving pressure drop, stop, or failure of the product. Connect a pipe to the port and extend the pipe to a safe place.
  • Install the product horizontally, with the vent port facing upward.
  • Flange joints shall be used for piping connections to allow for removal during maintenance.
  • Do not apply any shocks such as water hammer. Avoid using quick open/close valves near the product.
  • Attach strainers in front of the condensate inlet and driving steam port.
  • Be sure to attach a check valve to the condensate outlet to ensure condensate discharge capacity.

Be sure to secure the maintenance space needed for disassembly and repair of the product as shown in the diagram above (dimensions in mm).

Guidelines for Receiver Tank

A receiver tank is used for the separation of flash steam and condensate, condensate temporary storage, and protection of the pumping trap. Be sure to install a receiver tank before using the pumping trap.

  • Open System (Open Receiver): Requires capacity to store condensate when the pumping trap works and discharges condensate. It separates condensate from flash steam. Calculate the flash steam amount based on the condensate flash rate chart, then size the receiver tank diameter accordingly.
  • Closed System (Closed Receiver): Requires capacity to store condensate temporarily during its operation. In relation to the operation cycle, its capacity should be approximately 0.5% of the condensate amount for an hour.

Maintenance and Troubleshooting

Most failures of the product are caused by foreign materials in the pipes. Be especially careful to flush pipes before installation.

Maintenance Safety

Be sure to release internal pressure of the product, pipes, and devices completely and cool down the product before disassembly and inspection. Do not touch the product with bare hands until it is cooled down completely.

Periodic Replacement

The following parts should be replaced at recommended intervals to maintain functions and performance:

  • Valve (P): 2 years or 100,000 cycles of operation, whichever is earlier.
  • Float (P): 2 years or 100,000 cycles of operation, whichever is earlier.

Troubleshooting

Disassembly and Assembly Procedures

Disassembly Method:

  1. Remove the strainer cover using a box wrench (27 mm), and then remove the strainer and strainer gasket.
  2. Remove the hex socket head cap bolts using a hex wrench, lift up the cover to remove the cover and gasket from the body.
  3. Fix the float arm of valve (P) with an adjustable wrench, fit a wrench (17 mm) on the hexagonal part of float (P), and remove the float.
  4. Remove 2 hex bolts from the cover using a wrench (13 mm), and remove valve (P).
  5. Remove the set of inlet valves using a box wrench (19 mm), and remove the inlet valve seat gasket.
  6. Remove the vent valve seat using a wrench (24 mm), and remove the vent valve seat gasket.
  7. Remove the check valve and collar from the body manually.

Assembly Method:

  1. Install the collar to the check valve and attach the check valve to the body in the proper direction (processed side oriented toward the screw).
  2. Assemble the vent valve seat and gasket to the cover. Tighten at 80 N·m torque.
  3. Assemble the set of inlet valves and gasket to the cover. Tighten at 50 N·m torque.
  4. Fit valve (P) in alignment with two pins on the cover and tighten 2 hex bolts.
  5. Assemble float (P) to valve (P). Tighten the hexagonal portion at 15 N·m torque.
  6. Apply paste on the entire surface of a new gasket and attach it to the body.
  7. Attach the cover to the body. Tighten hex socket head cap bolts at 35 N·m torque.
  8. Attach the strainer, strainer gasket, and strainer cover to the cover.
