EL2270 and EL2271 are industrial-grade temperature sensor series from Spirax Sarco, designed for general industrial temperature measurement applications with high reliability and broad compatibility.

EL2270 Temperature Sensor

The EL2270 is a PT100 platinum resistance temperature sensor with 3-wire RTD design, fully compliant with EN60751: Class A accuracy standard. It can be directly connected to any temperature indicator or controller with 3-wire PT100 input for standard industrial temperature measurement.

Special Variants

• Fast Response Sensor: 40mm insertion depth, suitable for plate heat exchangers and applications requiring rapid response
• Miniature Sensor: 39mm insertion length with ¼"BSP thread connection, for space-constrained installations

EL2271 Temperature Sensor with Transmitter

The EL2271 integrates PT100 sensing element with transmitter functionality, with the sensing part also being 3-wire and compliant with EN60751: Class A standard. The transmitter outputs 4-20mA standard signal, directly compatible with various temperature indicators, controllers or computer systems with 4-20mA input.

Flow Velocity Requirements

• Air and steam applications: fluid velocity should be less than 45m/s
• Liquid applications: recommended velocity is 5m/s
• 700mm and 200mm length pockets are only suitable for non-flowing applications

Special Performance

• EL2270 fast response sensor has a time constant of 1.7s for rapid response
• EL2271 transmitter features sensor fault detection, outputting 23mA signal on fault

Pocket Specifications

Three types of pockets are available for the series, suitable for different industrial environments. Miniature EL2270 has no pocket configuration.

Pocket Selection Notes

• Select pocket based on sensor insertion length "D", marked as "pocket for XXmm sensor"
• Pocket dimension "F" is shorter than sensor dimension "D" due to thread engagement
• Sensors with 225mm and 725mm insertion lengths and their pockets are only suitable for non-flowing applications

Selection Guide

Model Selection Points

1. Choose model based on measurement needs: EL2270 for temperature sensing signal only, EL2271 for direct 4-20mA standard signal output
2. For EL2270, select based on installation space and response speed: Miniature for space constraints, Fast Response (40mm insertion) for rapid response needs
3. For EL2271, select based on calibration needs: Standard for general applications, 3-point calibration series for high precision requirements

Pocket Selection Points

1. Choose pocket type based on application environment: Sanitary pocket for hygienic requirements, Thin Wall or Tapered pocket for general industrial applications
2. Match pocket dimension "F" with sensor insertion length "D" for proper installation
3. Avoid 225mm and 725mm insertion length sensors and pockets for flowing applications

Installation Compatibility

• Confirm controller/indicator input type: EL2270 requires 3-wire PT100 input device, EL2271 requires 4-20mA input device
• Check power supply compatibility: EL2271 requires 10-30Vdc power supply, ensure loop resistance is within allowable range
