Spirax Sarco SM45 is a medium pressure, temperature sensitive, maintainable bimetallic steam trap. The operating element comprises a stack of bimetal discs which control the flow of condensate, air, and other incondensible gases at a preset temperature below steam saturation. The body and cover are forged, and the trap is available with integral flanges.

Standards and Certification

This product fully complies with the requirements of the Pressure Equipment Directive (PED) and carries the mark when so required. It is available with certification to EN 10204 3.1.

Installation and Maintenance

The SM45 is designed for installation with the element in a horizontal plane with the cover at the top. When welding the trap into the line, there is no need to remove the element providing that welding is done by the electric arc method.

DANGER

The cover gasket contains a thin stainless steel support ring which may cause physical injury if not handled and disposed of carefully. Before undertaking any maintenance, the trap must be isolated from both supply and return lines and safely vented to atmospheric pressure.
