Selection of Nominal Size

The nominal size of the strainer should be the same as that for the piping. If the nominal size of the strainer is smaller than the piping, the pressure loss may grow, resulting in a failure to maintain the required pressure at the inlet of the strainer.

Installation

Warning

As this product is heavy, please use a hanging device to securely support the product upon connection to the piping.

Cautions

  • Please confirm that the direction of the fluid flow and the arrow on the product coincide before installing the product.
  • Please support the piping and fix the product securely.
  • Upon piping, please make sure that unnatural force, bending, or vibrations will not be transmitted to the product.
  • Please make sure that the connections with the piping are secure. Inadequate connections can result in fluid outflow.

Upon installation, please secure sufficient space for maintenance and inspection (including cleaning of the screen).

Operation and Maintenance

Warning

  • Please make sure that there is no danger at the pipe end before pouring the fluid. You may get scalded in case hot fluid spouts out.
  • Remove all pressure within the product, piping, and equipment before disassembly and inspection.
  • In case of hot fluid, cool down the product body so you can touch it with your bare hand before disassembly and inspection.

Caution

  • This product should be used only when the maximum pressure loss is 0.1MPa or less.
  • Please clean the screen regularly since waste and scales clogging the strainer decreases the area for fluid flow, resulting in too much pressure loss and damage to the screen and piping system.
  • Do not take the screen off by force if the brim of the screen is stuck, as this causes deformation.
  • Installation of pressure gauges at either end of the strainer enables checking for clogging.

Troubleshooting

Condition of failureCausesMeasures and treatment
Fluid does not flow1. Screen is clogged.
2. The stop valves at either end of the strainer are closed.
1. Disassemble the strainer and clean the screen.
2. Open the stop valve(s).
Loss of pressure is great1. Screen is clogged.
2. The pressure gauge is out of order.
3. The nominal size is too small for the actual flow volume.
1. Disassemble the strainer and clean the screen.
2. Exchange the pressure gauge.
3. Use a strainer with a larger nominal size.
Alien matter is not removed1. Screen is damaged.1. Disassemble the strainer and exchange the screen. In case quick valves are installed, do not open them immediately.
Cover cannot be removed upon exchange of screen1. The inside of the product is vacuum.
2. Cover and body are stuck together.
1. Break the vacuum inside the pipe and remove the cover.
Outer leakage occurs1. O-ring is damaged.
2. Cover is not assembled properly.
1. Install a new O-ring.
2. Assemble properly.

Disassemble and Cleaning

After checking the pressure gauge so that there is no pressure inside the product, remove the bolt for the arm, the cover, and the screen. Clean up the screen by air or detergent.

Assembly

  1. Clean up the body and the sealing portion of the O-ring, and install a new O-ring. Apply grease onto the O-ring.
  2. Install the cleaned screen into the body, close the cover, and tighten the bolt for the arm.

Caution

  • Insufficient cleaning of the sealing portion can result in outer leakage.
  • Use a new gasket/O-ring at assembly. A used one may result in outer leakage.
  • There is a possibility of damaging the O-ring in case grease is not applied onto it.
