Yoshitake TSF-11S (Ultra Steam Trap Trap Star) is a high-performance float steam trap designed for steam condensate applications. Featuring an all-stainless steel construction, it provides exceptional durability and corrosion resistance. The trap is equipped with an incorporated thermostatic air vent that efficiently discharges air inside the piping, significantly shortening warming-up times. A key advantage of the TSF-11S series is its 360-degree flow direction capability; by simply turning the cock, it can accommodate various flow directions (horizontal or vertical) without the need for disassembly.

The discharge capacity shown in the chart below is the maximum value. In designing a system, select a steam trap with a sufficient safety factor (more than two times the regular level).

Operation

  1. Start-up: At start-up, since the float is down, the valve is closed. Air in the system and piping is discharged out through the opened air vent. When condensate flows into the product, the float lifts up and opens the valve, discharging condensate.
  2. Condensate Discharging: When steam flows into the product, the internal pressure of the air vent rises by steam temperature, and the air vent closes. According to the amount of condensate inflow, the float position moves up and down changing the opening degree of the valve, continuously discharging condensate.
  3. Air Vent Operation: When air or non-condensable gas flows into the product, it accumulates in the upper part. When the temperature decreases with condensate inflow, the air vent opens and discharges it to the outside.

Installation Guidelines

Wrong posture hampers proper operation. Allowable tilt from the horizontal line is within ±10°.

Piping Precautions:

  • If the product is installed close to a regulating valve, make sure to install the product at the inlet side of the regulating valve.
  • To discharge condensate from the steam main, be sure to install the product so that condensate can be discharged from the bottom of the steam main by drip leg.
  • Install the products for each device independently.
  • When collecting condensate, connect the trap discharge pipe to the top of the condensate collecting pipe and install a check valve to prevent backflow.
  • The diameter of the collecting pipe shall be more than the summation of sectional areas of discharge pipes.
  • Provide a by-pass line around the product, and install stop valves at the outlet side of the product.

Nameplate Adjustment: Adjust the direction of the nameplate in a no-pressure condition after installation. Fix the cock with a spanner and loosen the nut. Turn the cock and adjust the direction of the nameplate to position "TOP" and "BOTTOM" signs on the upside and downside respectively. Fasten the nut after adjustment.

Maintenance and Troubleshooting

Daily and Periodic Inspections

Conduct daily inspections during operation to ensure condensate is discharged smoothly and there is no outside leakage. Perform a periodic disassembly inspection once a year to check for scratches on seat surfaces, float deformation, and screen clogging.
