Armstrong PCB / PCS / PSS Pressure Gauge

Armstrong PCB Series Pressure Gauge includes three models: PCB (Dry-Bottom General Purpose), PCS (Dry-Bottom Steam Type), and PSS (Liquid-Filled Steam Type). All three share Φ100 dial, Class 1.5 accuracy, IP55 protection rating, and identical dimensions, with ring tube and needle valve included. PCB is designed for general industrial environments, while PCS and PSS feature stainless steel movement and Bourdon tube rated to 300°C. PSS additionally uses glycerin filling to dampen pointer vibration for clear readings in high-vibration environments.

Armstrong PCB Series Pressure Gauge

Product Overview

Armstrong PCB Series Pressure Gauge includes three models designed for different industrial applications:

  • PCB (Dry-Bottom General Purpose): Copper movement with phosphor-bronze Bourdon tube, suitable for general industrial environments, no liquid filling.
  • PCS (Dry-Bottom Steam Type): Stainless steel movement with stainless steel Bourdon tube, rated to 300°C, designed for steam and hot gas applications.
  • PSS (Liquid-Filled Steam Type): Based on PCS with glycerin filling to effectively dampen pointer vibration, ensuring clear and stable readings even in high-vibration environments.

All three models are equipped with ring tubes and needle valves, feature a 100mm dial diameter, Class 1.5 accuracy, IP55 protection rating, and identical dimensions. Suitable for pressure measurement of non-explosive, non-crystallizing, non-solidifying liquids or gases in petroleum, chemical, metallurgical, steel, food, and other industries.

Included Accessories

All three pressure gauge models include ring tube and needle valve as standard. When used with steam or other hot gases, the ring tube and needle valve MUST be installed to ensure measurement accuracy and equipment safety.

Key Differences

  • PCB vs PCS: Both are dry-bottom with no liquid filling. The core difference is movement and Bourdon tube material — PCB uses copper/phosphor-bronze, PCS uses stainless steel, providing significantly higher temperature resistance (70°C vs 300°C).
  • PCS vs PSS: Both share identical materials. PSS adds glycerin filling, which absorbs vibration energy and lubricates movement components, resulting in more stable and clear pointer readings under high-frequency vibration or pulsating pressure conditions.
  • When ordering, select based on actual operating conditions: PCB for general industrial use, PCS for steam/high-temperature, PSS for high-vibration steam environments.

Installation

As with all test equipment, the Armstrong pressure gauge is a precision measuring instrument, so special care must be taken during installation and use to ensure its reliability. When used with steam or other hot gases, the pressure gauge MUST be installed with a ring tube and needle valve.

Typical Installation Application

Armstrong PCB Series Pressure Gauge - Installation Application

Installation Key Points:

  • Before installation, verify that the pressure gauge range matches the measured media pressure range.
  • Under static load, pressure should not exceed 3/4 of full scale. Under alternating load, pressure should not exceed 2/3 of full scale. Short-term pressure surges may reach full scale.
  • When used with steam or other hot gases, ring tube and needle valve must be installed.
  • Installation location should be easily observable and protected from mechanical impact and vibration.
  • Fitting thread is M20×1.5. Use appropriate sealing methods during installation to prevent leakage.
