BURKERT 20092497 Type 2933 manually operated diaphragm valve consists of a manually operated actuator, a diaphragm, and a 2-way valve body. The manual actuator with a plastic or stainless steel handwheel is available with a diaphragm bonnet made of stainless steel or plastic, ensuring reliable use in hygienic or aggressive ambient conditions. The flow-optimised valve body with minimum dead space enables high flow values and a wide range of possible applications. The actuator features a compact, autoclavable design and is equipped with an integrated visual position indicator, a reproducible stroke scale, and an adjustable closing limiter.

Operating Instructions

Installation

TIP

It is the responsibility of the installer and the operator to ensure self-draining. The angle of inclination should correspond to the angle of inclination of the pipeline (recommended according to ASME BPE).

  1. Preparatory work: Clear impurities from pipelines (seal material, metal chips, etc.). Support and align pipelines.
  2. Welding: Dismantle the actuator and diaphragm before welding the valve body to prevent damage. After welding, smooth the body surface if necessary and clean thoroughly.
  3. Assembly: Place the actuator together with the diaphragm on the valve body. Slightly tighten the fastening screws crosswise. Close and open the diaphragm valve twice to position the diaphragm correctly. Close the valve again and open by about 20%, then tighten each fastening screw in 3 stages crosswise to the specified torque.

Setting Stroke Limit

A minimum stroke limit can be set for Type 2933. This setting also serves as a closing limiter to protect the diaphragm.

  1. Turn the handwheel clockwise to move the valve to the closed position.
  2. Loosen the screw on the handwheel (hexagon socket, width across flats 2) and remove the handwheel.
  3. Screw the hexagon nut as far as it will go to set the minimum stroke.
  4. Mount the handwheel on the actuator, ensuring the square on the spindle and the hexagon head of the nut are correctly aligned.
  5. Tighten the screw on the handwheel with 0.9 Nm.

Maintenance

DANGER

Risk of injury due to high pressure and escaping medium. Switch off the pressure before working on the device or system. Vent or empty the lines.

  • After the first steam sterilisation, or when required, retighten the fastening screws crosswise.
  • After a maximum of 10⁵ switching cycles, check the diaphragm for wear. Muddy and abrasive media require correspondingly shorter inspection intervals.
  • Inspect the relief bore regularly for any medium leakages. Change the diaphragm if there is escaping medium.
